Few areas of government are as important to Australia's future well-being than urban development policy. Enabling Australians to access housing that is both high in quality and affordable will become an increasingly important issue for governments to address in coming years. Critical to this problem of affordability is increasing the availability of land in areas that people are going to find desirable to live in. People have an obvious preference for living in areas where adequate health, educational, sporting and other facilities, as well as employment opportunities, are located. It is also going to be important to look at different options for how we might best house and support those who are the least well-off in the community. downloadable documents [550k] 'Home Truths Revisited - The Politics of Home Ownership', by Bob Day [350k] 'The Quality of Sprawl', by Bob Day [The Tom McKenna Annual Lecture, October 2005] [50k] A Tale of Two Cities, by Bob Day [Address to the HIA National Planning Conference, 2005] [68k] Home Ownership: A Dream Worth Fighting For, by Bob Day [The DR Dossetor Lecture, 2004]
